AAU launched a workshop about “Curricular Design and Delivery”
In conjunction with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP)and theAccreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) INTERNATIONAL, Al Ain University launched the first Regional Faculty Development Workshop on “Curricular Design and Delivery” to develop the faculty staff skills. The workshop will continue for two days 13 and 14 March in AAU –Abu Dhabi Campus-.
The workshop will be attended by Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh –AAU Chancellor, Dr. Khairi Mustafa –Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Mrs. Lucinda Maine, Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Mr. Mike Rouse, Director of the International Services in the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education International Services Program, in addition to more than 60 researchers and academics from 30 nationalities, representing more than 22 Faculty of Pharmacy from different universities and colleges from within and outside the state.
The workshop will be discussed various subjects between theoretical and practical method, where the workshop will address several themes provided by each of
Prof. Janet Engle -Executive Associate Dean and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy and Dr. Joseph Dipiro -Dean, Professor, and Archie. O. McCalley Chair at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy.
The objectives of the workshop is to make the participants able to Identify priorities for curricular change at their institution, Match different pedagogical approaches with desired student learning outcomes and Create plans for local curricular change for an introduction to home institutions.
On this occasion, Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh -AAU Chancellor- stressed on the importance of this workshop, which will develop several aspects of the faculty of pharmacy colleges and all who are interested in teaching in pharmacy,
so the development of their abilities would develop the curricula in their institutions, and to make a balance between the theoretical and practical methods. Also, He wished that the workshop will provide the participants with impressive potential benefit.
It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al Ain University is the only college on the level of the United Arab Emirates taking place on the international accreditation of the ACPE and got it after the efforts, hard work, and the application of the Discreet Teaching standards of the American Foundation.
