About the Program

The Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSPS) is a 2-year (full-time) or up to 4-year (part-time) program, including a year-round thesis, for students interested in the following research areas:

  • Drug Design and Discovery.
  • Pharmaceutical Analysis.
  • Pharmaceutics, Drug Delivery, And Pharmacokinetics.
  • Industrial Pharmacy.
  • Natural Products.

 

Vision

The vision of the MSPS program is to produce competent graduates who can provide an added value to the pharmaceutical industry and research.

 

Mission

The program prepares graduates that are competent, highly skilled researchers, who can conduct a high caliber research in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The graduates of this program should possess knowledge, experiences, abilities, skills, and attitudes necessary to be scientists and/or educators in pharmaceutical sciences to meet the changing problems in pharmaceutical industry, drug design and quality control laboratories. Our overall objective is to prepare experts who will lead the innovation in the national pharmaceutical industry, academic and research institutions. The college of pharmacy adopts a student-focused approach along with active learning methodologies in delivering this program.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification, approved by the UAE- MoHESR.
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate with a minimum score of 5 in IELTS, 500 in TOEFL, or an equivalent.
  • Applicants whose Bachelor's degree does not align with the required specialization must complete up to 3 remedial courses (3 CR.H. each) determined by the department/college on a case-by-case basis based on the applicant's prior degree. These remedial courses are taken outside the curriculum and do not contribute to the cumulative GPA. Specialized courses cannot be taken concurrently with remedial courses. If the applicant has already completed (or holds an equivalent to) any of the remedial courses at the Bachelor's level, they will be exempt from that course. Each exemption allows the applicant to enroll in a specialized course from the designated postgraduate program, which can be completed alongside the remaining remedial courses (up to three).
  • Applicants who do not meet the required English proficiency score must enroll in a remedial English course (3 CR.H., pass/fail), which is taken outside the academic plan and does not contribute to the cumulative GPA.
  • Applicants whose native language is English or who have completed a Bachelor's degree with English as the medium of instruction are exempt from the English proficiency requirement.

Graduation Requirements

To obtain a “Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences”, a student must successfully complete (36) credit hours, including (21) credit hours of didactic courses, (6) credit hours of elective courses and a dissertation of (9) credit hours and with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average CGPA of (3 out of 4).
