AAU invites for the participation of the 3rd Regional Faculty Development Workshop
As announced by Al Ain University, the participation of the Third Regional Faculty Development Workshop has been open for participants interested in presenting research in the workshop entitled “Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Experiential Education”. The workshop will be held next March 2018, at the AAU’s Abu Dhabi campus, organized by Al Ain University in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
The workshop will be over two consecutive days, to evaluate the participant's experiential education program by expert faculty who will lead discussions and activities to assist them in developing and evaluating their experiential Education. Sessions will focus on the importance, assessment and best practice of experiential education. In addition, poster presentation will be conducted to allow faculty members in the region to present their experiences in the experiential education.
AAU will also host keynote speakers like; Dr. Craig D. Cox, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice & Vice Chair of Experiential Programs, Texas Tech University, and Dr. Susan S. Vos, Clinical Associate Professor & Director of the Professional Experience Program, The University of Iowa USA.
The workshop aims to explain the importance of experiential education and its alignment with other curricular requirements, design the structure of the introductory and advanced experiential education experiences, identify how to optimally prepare students, preceptors, and internship sites for experiential education, and create an effective evaluation and assessment policy for your experiential education program.
Dr. Noor Aldeen Atatreh, AAU Chancellor, stressed the importance of this workshop, which will develop several aspects of the faculty of pharmacy colleges and all who are interested in teaching in pharmacy.
For his part, Dr. Khairi Mustafa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, said that this workshop integrates between the theoretical and practical aspects, and will develop the faculty skills, which would reflect positively on the students in order to graduate conscious generation to be ready for the labor market challenges.

It is worth to mention that the “Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Experiential Education” workshop, considered as the third workshop organized by the AAU to develop the academic faculty in the College of Pharmacy, In Addition to that the College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University is the only college on the level of the United Arab Emirates taking place on the international accreditation of the (ACPE).
