An awareness day at Al Ain University

As a part of awareness-raising and community engagement, the College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi campus, organized an awareness campaign entitled "Health Awareness Day" under the supervision of a group of distinguished academicians and students from the college. In the presence of Dr. Amer Qasim, Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Ghattas, Deputy Dean of the College of Pharmacy, a number of faculty members, administrative staff and AAU students.

The Health Awareness Day marked with opening the first issue of the student’s magazine entitled “Think Pharmacy”. Then a series of health lectures was presented to the audience.

Dr. Mohammed Fawzi from the College of Pharmacy gave a lecture on cosmetics and the daily use effect, impacts of using cosmetic and chemical for long periods and the damage caused by these lotions on the skin in the long term.

Dr. Abdulraoof Qarash from Dr. Nutrition Center presented a lecture on obesity in order to raise the awareness of the university community about its dangers, and to encourage the adoption of a healthy system through eating healthy foods and exercising continuously.

The third lecture was delivered by Dr. Shamsa Al Awar, Chair of Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology - (CMHS) - UAEU, about cancer, its causes and prevention, and the importance of community awareness about the disease. The last lecture was delivered by Prof. Mohamed Hodeib from the College of Pharmacy on medicinal herbs and their impact on pregnancy and lactation.

The awareness day also included, the opening of a health exhibition that showed various projects by the College of Pharmacy students.

At the end of the day, Dr. Ghattas thanked all organizers and participants. He also noted that the aim of organizing these campaigns and initiatives is to graduate a conscious generation capable of dealing with all the challenges.
