The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at Al Ain University is a six-year professional doctoral program comprising 214 credit hours and aligned with QFEmirates Level 7. The program provides an integrated education in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, research, and public health.
The first four years establish a strong foundation in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences, therapeutics, and pharmacy practice, while developing students’ clinical reasoning, communication, problem-solving, and professional skills. Years 5 and 6 focus on advanced pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacokinetics, research, professional practice, and patient-centered care.
The program integrates Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) throughout the curriculum and culminates in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) during Year 6. Through progressive experiential learning, graduates develop the competencies required to provide safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.

The mission of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is to graduate outstanding, highly competent, ethical, and motivated pharmacists with advanced knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, and clinical care; develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and transferable skills to support independent and evidence-based clinical decision-making; prepare them to provide patient-centered, safe, effective, and cost-effective medication therapy and pharmaceutical care; foster interprofessional collaboration to meet the evolving healthcare needs of society; and contribute to the advancement of pharmacy practice, healthcare services, education, research, and the profession locally, nationally, and internationally.

To be awarded the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, students must successfully complete 214 credit hours, including all required didactic coursework, Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE), and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), and achieve a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00.
