Launching the workshop “Assessment and Curriculum Mapping” in the presence of more than 95 academician and researcher
Al Ain University launched today the Second Regional Faculty Development Workshop about the “Best Practices for Planning Educational Assessment and Curriculum Mapping” in Abu Dhabi Campus, which was organized by AAU in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
The opening ceremony were attended by Prof. Badr Aboul- Ela –Director of the Commission for Academic Accreditation - Ministry of Education (Higher Education Affairs), Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh –AAU Chancellor, Prof. Ghaleb El Refae –AAU President, Deans of Pharmacies Colleges, in addition to more than 95 researchers and academicians from different universities of the region from inside and outside the country.
Prof. Aboul-Ela praised the university’s role in organizing this workshop which develops the faculty skills, stressed on the importance of developing curriculums to promote and strength the academic outputs to benefit the staff and students.
For his part, Dr. Atatreh stressed on the importance of this workshop in shade of the new development in the Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the continued progress in the pharmacy work in recent years, He added that the pharmacy curriculum is the base to qualify a pharmacist and this workshop is trying to develop the abilities of the faculty of pharmacy colleges in assessment curriculum, make a balance between the theoretical and practical methods, and design plans to develop assessment curriculum methods.
The workshop were presented by Dr. Fadi M. Alkhateeb -Director of Assessment & Accreditation and Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy in Texas A&M University, and Dr. Linda S. Garavalia -Associate Dean of Assessment and Professor in the College of Pharmacy in Western University of Health Sciences, where the workshop contained various subjects, lectures and discussions provided by a group of expertise from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to show experiences in the field of education and training pharmacists and evaluation methods of pharmacy curriculum to keep abreast with the developments of the pharmaceutical sciences.
