Research and Scholarly Activity Outputs

As per AAU research and scholar strategy, faculty members are expected to:

  • Involve themselves in serious scientific research and publishing it.
  • Publish books and references.
  • Participate in conferences and academic forums.
  • Give priority to research related to the development plans of the country.
  • Encourage and supervise students’ research.

The College of Pharmacy (CoP) has a good record of scholarly activities. Since its establishment, the college has produced about 83 scientific contributions including research articles, conferences and books (refer to table 1). The CoP faculty members published 64 peer-reviewed original research articles, 53 of which have been published in Scopus-indexed journals. The addition of the MSPS program shall significantly impact the quantity and quality of the college research outcomes.

Figure 1. Scientific Achievement of College of Pharmacy at AAU as per journal impact and indexing.

As shown in Figure 1, the college of pharmacy has been very active in research during the past three years, compared to the duration between 2008 and 2013. The college publications have increased significantly from the range of 2-5 publication/year in the first duration to the range of 10-13 publication/year in the second duration. In the same figure, it is obvious that publications in Scopus- and ISI-indexed journals have also increased significantly in the last few years. For example, 90% and 100% of the college articles in 2016 and 2017, respectively, has been published in Scopus-indexed journals; half of which have been published in ISI-indexed journals. Therefore, the college of pharmacy has shown remarkable increase in its research publications, not only in term of quantity but also in term of quality.
